L'OR cappuccino

What is a cappuccino?

Let’s start with the basics. A cappuccino is an espresso-based type of coffee, best known from Italy. A cappuccino contains equal parts of espresso, steamed milk and milk foam (in a ratio of 1:1:1). It has a rich taste, thanks to the use of espresso, but is balanced and toned down by the use of milk and milk foam.

Cappuccino recipe

Start with a shot of espresso. We recommend the intense L’OR Espresso Forza or the spicy L’OR Espresso Supremo as a basis for your cappuccino. Follow the three steps below to create the perfect cappuccino at home.

  1. Pour the espresso in a cappuccino cup.

  2. Froth milk, either by using an electric milk frother or frothing wand.

  3. Add the frothed milk gently to the espresso. The steamed milk will go in first, followed by the milk foam.

How to froth milk?

There are many options to get soft, foamy milk to top off your cappuccino. The easiest way is to invest in a milk frother. Simply pour in some cold milk into the frother and press the button. Your milk foam will be ready within a minute.

Do you have a frothing wand or a handheld milk frother? Make sure to warm your milk first to create warm milk foam.

  1. Hold the wand vertically and make sure the head is fully submerged into the milk.

  2. Turn the frother on. Swirl in circles for about 30 seconds.

  3. After that, move the wand slowly up and down to create even more foamier milk. Don’t forget to keep the head inserted in the milk.

  4. After 30 seconds, turn the frothing wand off and remove from the milk. Your milk foam is now ready.

How to make a heart in cappuccino?

Making a cappuccino for someone special? Get creative and make a heart in the milk foam in 5 steps:

  1. Froth 3 ounces of whole milk. Swirl the milk foam to get red of any bubbles.
  2. Pour a shot of espresso into a cappuccino cup. Hold the cup in a 45-degree angle towards you.
  3. Take the milk foam and gently pour the milk into your cup, starting in the middle of the espresso.
  4. To create the heart, you’ll have to pour closer to the top when the cup is almost full. Start moving your hand back and forth to create ripples in the milk foam.
  5. Drag a line down, right through the centre of the heart to finish the heart.

Your heart is now ready! Didn’t succeed? Try the simple version. Get some cacao and a cappuccino stencil. Create a heart by sprinkling cacao on top of the milk foam.

Enjoy your home made cappuccino!
